A delightful wild ride of a thriller, Fraud and Fabrication revolves around Cass, who, after a bad break-up, is relieved to find work at the top-notch horse-breeding ranch, Leighton Park. The gruff patriarch, John Leighton, is well-known for his iron-fisted ways, but is generous and respectful to Cass. When she meets Geoff, John’s son who’s someone of a black sheep, she feels certain she’s met her soul mate–and ignores giant red flags that something is amiss at the ranch and the family has a bad habit of keeping secrets and putting on a persona. Even after she and Geoff marry and have a child, she continues to deny anything is wrong. Until the moment comes when she cannot ignore it any longer.The characters are so well-crafted that you just can’t help but feeling for them. Cass, who’s fiercely independent but also unwilling to let go of her fairy-tale domestic life, her shady father-in-law, her seemingly charming brother-in-law Johnno (who shows a more sinister side to his personality later), John’s alcoholic and grating but somehow endearing girlfriend Cheree, who has an unexpected nurturing, maternal side, Cass’s best friend Hannah, the ultimate partner-in-crime, and of course Geoff, who believes that by creating the ultimate domestic paradise for his new wife, he can hide from her some of the less palatable sides to his personality.
You pretty much got my point that the plot is completely engrossing and will make you feel like you’re riding a wild horse without a rein.
Which brings me to one of the best parts of this book: Ms. Forsman obvious love for and knowledge of horses is present throughout. I learned so much about horses, their care, the way they are traded, and their value in a lucrative horse-racing industry than I ever knew before just by reading Fraud and Fabrication. (i think it was pretty obvious to anyone who’s ever read Ice that my knowledge of horse-breeding is at best, very basic).
Check out this equine-themed mystery/thriller today: I promise you your heart will gallop and it will be difficult to put the reins on your reading time.

KD Forsman's debut novel is an enjoyable glimpse into the world of horse breeding.
The story follows Cass' experiences as she becomes a part of the Leighton's world. Humorous and mysterious, the situations Cass finds herself in, will keep you turning pages.
With convincing, likeable characters and plenty of suspense; this should develop into a much loved series.
This is KD Foresman's first novel but it reads like it's her 10th... the story flows well, and its just like you are sitting down talking with the author and she's recapping a real situation. You can hear her voice in the humour and almost sense the eyeball rolling at the pertinent times too. I loved reading this book, and can't to see what comes up in part two of the trilogy. Definitely a great read for the weekend!
I read this book easily in a couple of days. The story was intriguing enough to keep my attention and the conclusion has left enough to the imagination to make me want to read the next book.

Great debut novel by KD Forsman! I enjoyed getting to know the characters and can see great possibilities for future stories for many of them. I particularly love Moana, even though we don't get to know her too well in this book - I think she knows a lot of secrets about the family and wonder what trouble she could get into in the future with all that knowledge! Looking forward to the next one!
This fun, suspenseful read was a great page-turner. Full of surprises and plot twists, this is the kind of read that you won't be able to put down until you're finished!
Ms Forsman has created some absolutely fascinating characters that work out their complex and twisted world of a New Zealand horse breeding dynasty. Nasty people well developed with well and compelling story telling. Ms Forsman is a giant talent.
Looking forward to the next book in this series, and really hoping she stays with the style she shows in this one. Set in New Zealand, Cassandra is an outgoing young woman with a solid set of personal values who finds herself in very questionable circumstances. What she decides is the right thing to do makes for a very brave move.
